Couples Therapy

Surreal Flower

Couples therapy is designed to help partners—whether dating, engaged, married, or part of a polycule—build stronger communication, deepen emotional connection, and ensure everyone feels heard, seen, and understood.

While many couples seek therapy during times of distress or conflict, it’s just as valuable for those who want to strengthen their relationship, navigate life changes, or address recurring challenges before they grow.

Common Reasons Couples Seek Therapy
  • Communication struggles or repeated conflict patterns

  • Premarital counseling

  • Financial stress or disagreements

  • Navigating neurodiversity (ADHD/ASD) within the relationship

  • Adjusting to a growing family

  • Codependency patterns

  • Blending families

  • Tension with in-laws

  • Grief and loss

  • Empty nest transitions

Approaches We Use

We draw from proven models like:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – to strengthen bonds and address core emotional needs

  • Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO / IFS for couples) – to explore and heal individual and relational patterns

  • Prepare/Enrich or SYMBIS – for engaged or premarital couples building a strong foundation

What Makes Our Approach Unique

We focus on rebuilding care and respect even when viewpoints differ, and on softening the underlying hurts that often go unspoken. Sessions aim to help couples reconnect, repair after conflict, and communicate with more empathy and understanding.

Possible Outcomes of Couples Therapy
  • Greater closeness and emotional intimacy

  • Clearer, more respectful communication

  • Healthier conflict repair and resolution

  • Stronger relationship resilience through life’s changes
